about this blog:

This blog is one that possesses no coherent theme but serves as the plate for my food for thought. And the most wonderful thing about that metaphor is that I do not have to do dishes. I hate dishes...

The Power of the Photo

I am no photographer. Nor do I claim to be one. But just watching the bevy of amateur self proclaimed photojournalist as they snap away sometimes saddens me. Myself, being a designer, know that there are certain responsibilities that that title holds. Making something cool only for the fact that it looks cool is irresponsible. There must be reasonings behind ideas, development based on explorations of interior space, materials, light, site, and a collection of other aspects. Such is the case in photography. I feel like the person who takes the photo has a responsibility. Truly a picture is worth a thousand words. But more importantly a picture can tell a story. And even without manipulation photographs can lie.

Take this famous photo from the Vietnam Conflict. It was snapped by the Pulitzer Prize winning Eddie Adams. In my favorite magazine, AdBusters it was featured which got me thinking like this. It said:

"This photo soon became the the most defining anit-war image of the Vietnam Conflict. The coldness of the killing, a single shot to the side of the head while the prisoner was handcuffed, cemented the perception that the United States and its allies were war criminals."

But Eddie Adams who later wrote in Time magazine years later said he sympathized with Loan, General Nguyen Ngoc Loan, who is holding the gun in the image. He had just watched the Viet Cong brutally murder 34 of his soldiers and their family members. Eddie Adams also later wrote that:
"The general killed the Viet Cong; I killed the General with my camera. Still photographs are the most powerful weapon in the world. People believe them...[but] they are only half-truths."
So whose the villain who's the victim? Which one is the terrorist? The power to decide that is in the photographers hands, and it is a power that holds tremendous responsibility. In a NYT article:
When General Loan was severely wounded while charging a Viet Cong hideout three months later and taken to Australia for treatment, there was such an outcry there against him that he was moved to the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, where he was repeatedly denounced in Congress.
Back in Saigon, Mr. Loan, who had been relieved of his command after having been wounded, seemed a changed man, devoting time to showering presents on orphans. At the fall of Saigon his pleas for American help in fleeing were ignored. But he and his family escaped in a South Vietnamese plane.

After his presence in the United States became known there was a move to deport him as a war criminal. But the efforts fizzled, and Mr. Loan, whose right leg had been amputated, settled in northern Virginia, where he eventually opened his pizzeria, which he operated until 1991 when publicity about his past led to a sharp decline in business. As a message scrawled on a restroom wall put it, ''We know who you are.''

Im just tired of all the self proclaimed photographers that take pictures and they have no meaning. Photography is an art, and can be a powerful form of expression, much like music or writing. We need more people who care about what kind of pictures they take, and take pride in the meanings they hold.

Leap Year!

Enjoy the extra day peoples...

Audacity of Hope...

A South Korean tourist, left, and a North Korean guide at Pakyon Falls, the first stop on a tour.
A South Korean tourist, left, and a North Korean guide at Pakyon Falls, the first stop on a tour

Ok, in my last post I very subtlety blasted the efforts of North Korea's effort of a "Symphonic Diplomacy." Being of Korean descent myself, I am very "touchy-feeley" when it comes to talking about this topic, whatever that means. In fact, when I blew out my birthday candles for the past 5 years I wished that I would have the opportunity to be alone with Kim Jong-Il inside a dark room with a samurai sword in my hand (and f.y.i., on the strength of those failures I have decided this year to just wish for a pony.) But staying on course, jennifer said:
"I can only hope that even with a little exposure to the outside world will make some sort of positive impact in North Korea"

Hope. Many events have given me hope for North Korea. The treatment of foreign press during the concert for example. I wrongly assumed (as I usually do), that they were on extremely strict leashes, with as much freedom as an Asian student during SAT season. Surprisingly they were provided with cell phones, unrestricted internet access, interpreters for every few journalists, and they even gave photographers unusual high freedom in what they snapped. Even the South Korean press got involved as South Korean television channel MBC drove in satellite trucks into the North. In more good news the North opened up a tour of Kaesong, which unlike Pyongyang, is just a regular town with regular civilians, although it is very picturesque, hence the tour.

BUT with all these unprecedented activities going on its hard for me to have hope for the North Korean people. I can not remember or think of a group of ethnic people separated by different countries where both groups of people being well off. Ireland comes to mind. So does Cyprus. The Kurds in Turkey/Iraq and the imperialist split-up disaster that is Africa. Hundreds of thousands of lives were sacrificed to stop the split of countries. Abraham Lincoln ONLY decided to go to war after the South decided to seceded. The VietCong absolutely bitch-slapped any attempt of splitting Vietnam. I refuse to believe any of this "opening of North Korea to the West" BS. Hell, the 2016 Olympics can be held in Pyongyang I still wont believe it. In the NYT article on the tour to Kaesong there was a story:
"One bus was filled with South Koreans who had grown up in Kaesong and were returning for the first time in six decades. Everything had changed, they said, except the very same tourist spots they were visiting.

On the steps leading to Sungyang, a Confucian lecture hall, another North Korean guide with a white bullhorn was dramatically interrupted by an old man who jabbed a large finger in the air and yelled out: “Why isn’t there a nameplate on the entrance? Every Korean house should have a nameplate.”

Flustered, the guide remained speechless as the South Koreans streamed past her into the hall. Inside, though, she said, “The Japanese imperialists took the nameplate and burned it during the occupation.”

Later, the man with the large finger, Lee Hee-tae, 80, who had lived here until the Korean War, said he was dissatisfied with the answer. “I don’t think the Japanese took it,” he said, “because I saw it after the end of the Japanese occupation.”

Overhearing his comments, a young North Korean guide asked, “Is there anything wrong?”

After listening to Mr. Lee’s explanation, the guide said simply, “I can’t believe you remember what happened 60 years ago.”

That just captures everything. He does remember. And hopefully things should change for the better while people like him still remember. But allow me to be the cynic, with apologies to everyone. But I guess thats "the audacity of Hope and there is nothing false about hope." [(c) Obama] But again, some things will never change. [(c) Tupac Shakur]

...as long as Kim Jong-Il is alive anyway, stupid birthday wishes.....

p.s. Wow i just quoted Tupac and Barack back to back. That cant be scholarly writing...

I know, I know... WTF am I doing watching MTV??? But actually i dont watch it. And I dont watch 'America's next Dance Crew'. Its a crappy show with a crappy host and sugar coated judges. BUT I do go on Youtube to watch the performances of Kaba Modern and JabbaWokeez cause they are FIRE!!! This is JabbaWokeez latest performance, and I think they will end up wining the thing, unless Kaba Modern decides to step it up a notch, nothing against them because they are talented but JabbaWokeez are at another level right now. And major crush on Yuri Tag from Kaba but we will leave that be.

Something is Fishy...

Its one of three things:

1)
Barack Obama is taking performance enhancing drugs, HGH maybe? From what I know the Democratic Party does not have strict drug policy tests or screenings. Performing Enhancing Drugs have always been a part of the political landscape, William Howard Taft took illegal weight loss pills, Bill Clinton was VIVA VIAGRA!!!, and John Edwards Howard Dean was obviuosly on crack 4 years ago uncontrollably yelling out YAHHHHHH TRICK YAHHH!!!!! (btw when is John Edwards going to file suit against Soulja Boy for copyright infringement???) And Obama's swagger has been pretty darn swagtastic lately. Well, Hillary is taking like 55 testosterone pills a day anyway so I guess the field is even.

2)
Barack Obama is illegally video taping Hillary Clinton's signals. Barack Obama has won 10 straight states. The Patriots won 18 straight games. Im not saying anything specifically, but Im just saying something generally. Take it for what you will. And btw, I heard that Cornell West took a queue from Roger Goodell and burned all the evidence anyway. With the Spy-Gate controversy ongoing in the NFL, I think Barack will wise up and stop video taping. I think he will do it the old fashioned way and just send a sweet little birdie on over to Bill's room, if ya catch my drift.

3)
Now the final possibility is that people are actually coming out and voting for Barack Obama. That white people are voting for him. That Black people are voting for him. That Latino people are coming out and voting for him. That, God forbid, Asian people are voting for him. That men are voting for him. That women are voting for him. That young and old, rich and poor, Democrats and Republicans are actually casting their vote for Barack Obama.

I mean, come on, American Citizens are NOT voting for Barack... the thing is rigged or he's taking steroids... I think im going to write a letter to Senator Mitchell to propose an investigation....

BY THE WAY.....

Dear America,
YES WE CAN!!!!

Why Asians Will Always Be Insignificant...

DISCLAIMER
First off, let me start by saying I hate using the word "asian". The word "asian" (btw my spell check wants be to capitalize asian but I refuse to do so) means you are from the continent of asia. It generalizes all the idiosyncrasies and intricacies that each nation in the largest continent in the world has to offer. The term "asian" groups together people that have different values, customs, languages, and traditions. So I will use the term "people from asia".

The reason why people from asia will always be insignificant in this country is because the duality of a certain nature in them. Their greatest strength is also their greatest weakness. Let me start off by talking about Chinese people as a microcosm for people from asia.

They were the first to step into this land that stretches from sea to shining sea. They have lived, eaten, played, and died in this country since the early part of the 19th century, thats the 1800s if any stupid person is reading this because I do not discriminate against stupid people. So Chinese people have lived through the Civil War, The Industrial Revolution, the Great Depression, Prohibition, the World Wars, the Civil Rights movement, and the Bush administration. Thats a lot of shit, pardon my french. Through it all, they remained self sufficient, as that is the nature of people from asia.

When i say self-sufficient I mean they have accepted changes for what they were, good or bad, and just kept on living. During the Chinese Exclusion act, that lasted for more than 75 years, can you find a Chinaman in history that stood up and spoke out as a leader of his people speaking of how unconstitutional it was? The U.S. government blamed the Chinese for being willing to work for lower wages thus putting white men out of work. Well the reason why that reasoning wouldn't make sense is that the population of Chinese during before the Act was around .002 PERCENT!!! When the U.S. invaded the Philippines and used the Spanish American War as a cover-up and when William McKinley said "GOD" told him to takeover that country, did anyone of asian descent rise up to speak against it? Also during the Japanese Internment of WWII when anyone who was of Japanese descent were put into concentration camps because America was afraid they were all spys, including the children. Yes, the reasoning again works out well there doesn't it?. And no one spoke out on the behalf of the Japanese-Americans, the Chinese and Filipino brethren did not say a word in public. During the Civil Rights movement not one person of Asian descent was involved. NOT ONE!!! And most recently during the controversy of Affirmative Action, where many students of asian descent do not get into the schools they deserve to, again no one from the asian community spoke out. Never in U.S. History has a person of asian descent spoken out, on anything or about anything. And when I speak of "speaking out" I know there have probably been rallies and demonstrations, but no one has been in the forefront, in the front lines of the civil arena.

Now the ironic thing is that people of asian descent are living quite well in contrast to what they have been through. 49% of people of asian descent, age 25 and older, possess a bachelor's degree or higher level of education highest among all race groups. Asians have the highest proportion of college graduates of any race or ethnic group in the country, including whites. Median household income for Asians in 2005, the highest among all race groups, at $61,094 a year. The proportion of employed Asians 16 and older who work in management, professional and related occupations, such as financial managers, engineers, teachers and registered nurses, is 47%, highest among minorities. Our high school proficiency is highest among minorities at 86%. Our neighborhoods started out as slums but we have made them into thrivings areas of culture, residents and businesses, Chinatown in NYC and LA, Flushing in NYC where the places were dead before we settled there.

But after all we have achieved as a community, name me one "Asian" leader in the civil arena. Name me one person of asian descent that fights for the well being and continued betterment of the "asian" community. You cant because there are none. The reason why Asian-Americans never spoke out during the atrocities done against us in U.S. history is because no one was educated enough or well spoken enough to come out and make a change. But now we are. Its funny, we have that reverse 'Cosby'ism where Bill Cosby says that blacks blame their environment too much and dont blame themselves. Well us as Asians (notice how I now use the term "asians" and capitalize it now?) never blame our environment we just keep chugging along. Although this aspect of Asians is admirable it also is extremely negative and goes against the whole concept of what this country was built on.

NO ASIAN PEOPLE!!!!! THE BASIS OF THIS COUNTRY IS NOT THAT YOU COULD LIVE A BETTER LIFE (although that is a part of it) THE POINT IS THAT EVERY MAN AND EVERY WOMAN HAS A VOICE AND THERE IS A MEDIUM IN WHICH WE CAN EXPRESS IT AND BE HEARD!!!!!!

That is the point people! And it is up to us, the younger generation of Asians to change this. No matter what your occupation, it is your responsibility to speak on behalf of your people. To have a opinion about your people. To bring up issues regarding your people to politicians. To actually care about politics. To perform filibusters if necessary for the sake of your people. The sad part about the Asian community is that there is no spokesperson or spokespeople that voice our opinions to the rest of the country. Where are the Martin Luther Kings, the Malcolm X's, the Booker T. Washington's, the Frederick Douglas', the Tavis Smiley's, the Cornel West's, and the Jim Brown's of the Asian community?

Hopefully they are being groomed today so that they can lead tomorrow.

Why am I so Angry?

Why am I so angry? Is it cause I'm frustrated with life, and how I've been dealt a full house of kings and another guy has a royal flush.

Well today started off well, I got a big sister now. After the ceremony of her asking me to be her little, and me saying "I Do," I headed out to Chinatown to go wish my Grandfather a Happy New Year because I love him.

Confetti was all over Chinatown because of the celebration. People of all races were there, brown, yellow, white, black, everyone. As I was walking around trying to make my way to the Oriental Palace, I started to ponder on why there were white people here at such a celebration, didn't they make the Chinese Exclusion act so that us Chinks, couldn't spread this yellow fever and take all their jobs. Is it our fault, my ancestors wanted to work hard, and find a better living so that they can provide for their families. White folk did bring Opium to China and make us useless for many years. So why are you in Chinatown, celebrating a tradition with people you never wanted in "your country"? But its not fair to think of it like that because White folk now could not control what their ancestors did. As I was slowly finding my way to the middle of Mott Street, I saw Ms. Asian New York.

Then I started thinking about the way people view Asian sexuality. Nowadays everyone is catching Yellow Fever. Yellow fever as urbandictionary.com defines is, when a male of non asian decent gains an attraction to Asians of the opposite sex and in their efforts go forth and try to obtain an Asian female. Or as many of these non asian males say, they have an Asian Fetish. What the hell does that mean, Asian Fetish, does that mean Asian girls are like animals or something. You know why they freaking like you? Because they want to put their freaking penis' in your tight little Asian Vagina. This may be a bias outlook so whatever, maybe because I am angry that I can't find myself a girl. But yea, so Non asian males, you make fun of my culture, you make fun of how we speak, you go Ching-Chong mak a hai, or whatever u say, and then say i have a small penis, so that you can make yourself feel better and more secure of your own manhood. When i finally got to the restaurant, I was really angry at other races. Then something added more fire to my fuel. I saw a bunch of White folk eating Dim Sum. Alright I know White folk love to go and experiment with different taste and such. I have no problem with that you are supporting my struggling Asian community. However when you come to eat, will you please have some freaking decency. It's Chinese New Year everything sound be happy and fun, and respectful. Your damn kids were playing with chopsticks. That is probably one of the most disrespectful things to do. The two kids were fighting over the chop sticks as if it were a toy or something. Then they dropped one into a glass of soda. That's really disrespectful. If your going to be in our restaurants be respectful. Again i am being a hypocrite because us Chinese people have no manners, and we are freaking rude pieces of sugar honey ice tea. Anyway, so I am going home, to wait for my big sis to come and pick me up. That was cool, getting to call her big sis haha.

Conclusion come upon by An Rong, Man is his own worst enemy. We try to see the differences in all of us, instead of trying to understand that we should see our similarities. We make laws the ban this and that because we are afraid of it and we do not truely understand it. The reason we are at war is because we loathe each other, instead of that we should help each other. I am probably considered the most racist person there is. I make fun of one race, then another, why because i am jealous of what they have. I am really just a lost sheep among the flock, questioning the reason for existence. When you look at it, the reason why the world has problems, is because we just look for differences, we never try to realize that we are all alike, and that at the end of the day the reason we are afraid of each other is because we don't understand each other. I guess it doesn't matter, everyones going to just say yea, we should do that, and do this and that, but since the beginning of time we have hated each other, so how are we going to stop that. I guess part of being human, is to learn to hate, flawed we are. Maybe the meaning to life is really to find a way to not hate, find a way to be able to love all that is on this earth. but you what, all i am is just an angry asian in the world filled with billions of people who i look like right?

You live to make money, soo that in the future you can enjoy yourself, but in the end you realize what's it all mean?

I'm Thinking About Her Again

Since I have come back to the city, I usually do a lot of photography in the city because I love this place.

I met up with my dear friend Jessica, and she told me she saw my Korean Love. My Korean Love is a beautiful girl I had fallen in love with the idea that I could love her. She's beautiful, she laughs at everything i say, she knows how to make me smile, i can talk to her for hours, i can just picture myself being with her, holding hands and running around in daisies. However, she is currently with someone. I had made a new years resolution to get over her, but whenever i least expect it, she pops up in my head.

The times i had spent with her, it makes me feel like i'm in a Woody Allen movie, and our song is Embraceable You (Take A), that the Charlie Parker Quinitet performed. Now I have the song playing over and over again in my itunes because it reminds me of her, and the way her and i would just compliment each other perfectly. However, me and her being together is facing its problems. I guess it was never meant to be, this movie won't end happy.

View From my Table Top,

Nothing to do really, in terms of school work... and I absolutely love it. Couldn't have come in a better time. My main nigga Long Wu and his lady friend is coming down to philly for the weekend, and im about to show them a good time. Plus on top of it football fam David the "illiterate Jamaican" and Jared Nesbit coming down too. Its going downnnnn...

but the thing on my mind is obsessions...
Everybody has obsessed over something. A girl. A guy. Sneakers. Food. Music. Whatever it was, you couldn't stop thinking about it, could you? It totally consumed you. Eventually though, the obsession passed and you resumed your normal life. But imagine if you were still obsessed with whatever the thing was. For some, their obsession never leaves them and it takes over their entire lives. Like a castle being attacked by an army, they are constantly besieged by the thoughts of their obsessions (which is an apt visual, incidentally, since the original meaning of "obsess" was to "besiege") They become completely possessed by whatever it is that they are obsessed with and, powerless before it, they give their lives over to it. Or is it just me???

Rude and Dumb Fucks

Alright so i don't have any new photos, thats because, i am here in what i would like to call the no photo zone. Besides the occasional dead squirrel. However i am going to be posting photos soon from my film rolls because I am going to learn to develop on thursday SCORE.

ok now time to explain the title of this post

I really hate ignorant people who do not give new things a try, or anything thats weird, and try to pretend they know something but they really don't.

I am currently taking a film class, and we watch movies that are domestic and foreign. Today we viewed Rashomon, a Japanese film from the 1950s, which displayed a story told from 4 points of views. The story is in feudal japan, and a bandit is trying to steal another mans wife, and the bandit is caught and he gives his side of his story, then the wife, the husband and a witnesses different perspectives. In the conclusion you learn what had truely happened, and a weird way to the story to end it off on. But basically, it was back to the age old conflict of good vs. evil. It seems that evil will win, but in the end somehow good rises above. Anyway the movie was probably popular back in the day. Also there is a different view to it than how a Western filmmaker would create it.

Well during the film i was trying to enjoy it as much as possible but occasionally i dosed off. But i noticed this Caucasian female sitting in front of me keep giving hand gestures as to say "WTF". She was being extremely rude, and ignorant. Many people did not understand it, however i did. Soo i was sitting with my bro Anton, and he didnt quite understand so being a good bro i explain how i perceived it. i explained the good and evil involved the use of symbology. The rude female overheard my conversation, soo when she was with her friends was mocking what i had said with the word symbology.

BITCH WAS FUCKING MOCKING ME. OK BITCH IF YOU CANT FUCKING UNDERSTAND A MOVIE ITS NOT MY FUCKING FAULT YOUR SOO RETARDED THAT YOU CAN'T UNDERSTAND SIMPLE THEMES BITCH.

So when i had heard her say this, i was like hey you know its fucking rude to talk shit about people when their standing right here? and she goes ooh sorry i didnt see you.

Ok your rude bitch so if i didnt say anything youd continue. Fuck you. your whats wrong with the world ignorant motherfuckers who don't give things a chance and are not willing to fucking understand shit.

Futhermore she was ugly, not only was she rude she was FUCKING UGLY.

yea soo there's my rant. if i see her tomorrow ima mock her "ooh im sorry" i will kick a bitch in her chest.

mad love to my bros jose, anton, and nemo, and his lady fish. mad love to the 3 1/2 chinamen crew. KINGSTON, i apologize forgive me

Truly a single Picture but a Thousand Words...

Do you see that picture above you? Do you understand what that means? No no, beyond the obvious, beyond the superficiality of the moment, beyond the glory of the moment. That picture has so much meaning, both physically and metaphorically which the individuals that rode the bandwagon all the way to the Superbowl will not understand. So for those of you that bleed the red, white, and big blue (no im not talking about patriotism, yes pun intended to the fullest) here is what the meaning is.

Look at the Lombardi Trophy, what do you see? I'll tell you what I see, I see fingerprints. You see them too right? But its the fingerprints of people that were not on the field. In fact there are fingerprints of a man that no longer works for the Giants. And his fingerprints are all over this win. He orchestrated this win. This is HIS win. He is the man who mortgaged our future who traded 2 first round picks, a second round pick, and a fourth round pick, to acquire a young, subdued, emotionless quarterback from Ole Miss. He also bared the criticism that came with every interception, every loss, every time the young quarterback refused to come up with a quotable. People said this young quarterback is not and will never be a leader of men. We had to watch A big armed quarterback from the same draft class win a Superbowl. We had to watch a brash and outspoken quarterback, from the same draft class and who we traded, go to the probowl. All this while our young quarterback get lambasted in the press.

But this man had a plan

He was criticized for drafting too many Defensive Ends. His predecessor, the legendary George Young, already drafted Michael Strahan. He then drafted an unproven talent from Troy University with a hard name to say. In fact, this young man with the difficult last name almost halted the trade talks when acquiring the young quarterback from Ole Miss because the Chargers wanted to include this talented Defensive End.

But this man had a plan

He then drafted another talented Defensive End from a horrible Notre Dame team. Why????? The Giants have needs, our Defensive Line is a strength why draft another one?

But this man had a plan.

Then in 2006 he drafted ANOTHER Defensive end, another young man with a hard name to pronounce from Boston College. You can never had enough pass rushers he said. Again more criticism came his way.

But this man had a plan.

Too protect that young quarterback from Ole Miss, he decided to feature an offensive line with a 5th round pick, two undrafted free agents, the coach's son-in-law, and a player that the other team that plays in the same stadium deemed not worth to re-sign.

But this man had a plan

He signed a Middle Linebacker that was not invited to the Draft Combine because he was too small to play in the NFL. You mean you want him to carry on the legacy of the legendary Giant's Linebacking that produced Harry Carson, Carl Banks, Lawrence Taylor, Sam Huff, and Jesse Armstead? Lunacy the critics said.

But this man had a plan

He signed a Wide Receiver that spent more time on the sidelines than on the field with attitude issues to boot. He will clash with the young unassuming quarterback the critics said. He will clash with Jeremey Shockey, the critics said. He will never stay healthy the critics said.

But this man had a plan

He signed two old men at cornerback. Their best days are behind them the critics said.

But this man had a plan.

Speaking of old men, he hired a man that would drive the players into the ground the critics said. After three seasons, "OFF WITH HIS HEAD!!!!" the crtics yelled. No, this man gave the old coach an extension.

All because this man had a plan

Then this man had the audacity to retire! With question surrounding the young unassuming quarterback from Ole Miss, with the Defense he constructed getting blown away, with the players about to start a mutiny against the old coach, he gave the reigns over to a under qualified man in Jerry Reese, that had no General Manager experience.

But this man had a plan

Then this under qualified man that took over, then hired a Defensive Coordinator that ran a scheme that we did not have the personnel for. You mean you want to blitz and put Corey Webster, and those old men in single, man coverage? Are you crazy, that will never work the critics said.

But this under qualified man also had a plan

And as of today the plan came full circle.

That young unassuming quarterback named, Eli Manning, is now the unquestioned leader of this team, not to mention a Superbowl MVP.
Those Defensive Ends he drafted put Tom Brady on the ground all game long not to mention all the other quarterbacks in the NFL. What is most scary is that Mathias Kiwanuka did not even play in the Superbowl.
That undersized Middle Linebacker, named Antonio Peirce is now the unquestioned leader of our defense.
Corey Webster shut down Joey Galloway, Terrell Owens, Greg Jennings, and Randy Moss respectively this postseason.
Those Old men turned out to be still pretty good. Sam Madison played well all season and proved to be a great mentor. R.W. Mcquarters had 3 interceptions this postseason.
That under whelming Offensive Line protected Eli Manning all season long and is uquestionably now our strength on Offense. Even with the loss of Tiki Barber we still had the 4th best rushing game in the league.
That receiver, Plaxico Burress, lived up to his reputation as being injury prone. He was hurt all season. Oh yea, but he caught 13 touchdowns including the game-winner in the Superbowl. He also lived up to his brashness. He predicted the victory during Media Week. He also walked that walked.
And what of that under qualified Jerry Reese you ask?
Oh that Defensive coordinator is now the hottest assistant in the league.
Not to mention his draft class of 2007.

He drafted Aaron Ross who played incredibly all season, showing incredible ball skills and toughness against the run.
Steve Smith looks to be the next Amani Toomer for the next 10 years.
Kevin Boss filled the incredible big shoes that the injury to Jeremey Shockey left vacant.
Michael Johnson flew across the field making big hits filling in for James Butler.
Ahmad Bradshaw made people say Tiki who?

And we have Tom Coughlin. When he came to this team he preached discipline, special teams, and toughness. We went from breaking the team record for penalties (with 127 in 206) to breaking the team record for least (with 77 in 2007). He got Jeff Feagles, the best directional punter ever to play, not to retire. Whoever returned for the Giants had succes whether it was Willie Ponder, Ahmad Bradshaw, or Dominick Hixon. And if there is anyone who questions this teams toughness from first stringer to the 52nd man on the roster please stand up. Anyone? No? I didnt think so...

And there was a player Tom Coughlin refused to cut.
He played played Kickoff Coverage.

He played Punt Coverage.

He blocked on Kickoff

He played on Punt Block

But he did not make an impact on what his position listed him as on the depth chart: Wide Receiver. Well, David Tyree made an impact as a receiver on Superbowl Sunday.

That is why that is my favorite picture from the superbowl. The Lombardi trophy with all those fingerprints on it. Because as a true Giants fan, more than anything we have Ernie Accorsi to thank. Somewhere, someplace Mr. Accorsi is smiling. He could say "I told you so", but he doesnt have to. He knew it would work all along. My favorite quote in hindsight is this, in an interview with the New York Times in March of 2006, when asked but his favorite deals and/or draft pick was:
“the Manning deal will turn out to be the best one because he is going to be a championship quarterback.”

He was the man with the plan
So let the bandwagon riders celebrate Michael Strahan riding off into the sunset.

Let the fair weather fans talk about Spagnuolo and his defensive schemes that stifled the vaunted Patriot Offense.

I'll turn a deaf ear to uneducated die hards who say they believed in Eli Manning since the beginning.

Because the man that gave all these players and coaches a chance was Ernie Accorsi.

Ernie Accorsi, the man with the plan.

World Champions

I can finally say it for a team that I am rooting for. Nineteen Years going on Twenty later this month, I can finally say it. We're World Champions. Nothing sounds sweeter than that, and it doesn't get any better than this. The IMperfect Giants with the Quarterback that could(n't), the coach who should have been fired two years ago, a former Franchise Running Back turning his back on the team because HE believed that you couldn't, FUCK THAT THE WHOLE WORLD KNEW that you couldn't but here we are, Monday morning February 4th, 2008. We are the World Champions.

Still working on that thesis paper on "Chinese Calligraphy and its Relationship to Chinese Architecture"... and im starting to think I bit off way more than I can chew....

Reading a new book for Writing for Design class... its called "Nickel and Dime" by Barbara Ehrenreich. Its about this white lady (with a PhD) who attempts to experience the life of a working class individual by working "low class" jobs. I think the book is a total joke but whatever....

Discovered something new....
WaWa Ice Teas.... ABSOLUTE CRACK
shit is BANGIN'...
and of course Honey Bunches of Oats, no comment needed there.

Had some loose change and bought the 100th issue of XXL only because they had the Nas interview I wanted to read... it was ok. And the 100 greatest moments of hip-hop of course was pathetic. Just full of people stabbing and people dissing and people killing each other. Definitly was not worth the 4 bucks I spent on it. I was better off buying two more WaWa ice teas. At least the issue made me bang Illmatic for a good while.

Mets Fitted = We got Santana, we made him rich, and he will make us win. That's how it works right?

Giants Fitted = Do I have to say it??? Lets just say on April 4th we will have the 32nd pick of the draft ya diggggg?

Right now (besides Illmatic) im listening to Asheru's 2003 LP "Soon Come" it also features Blue Black. Asheru is an underground artist that is not your rapper's rapper. He has a master's degree and is also a teacher. He contributed to the Boondocks controversial episode "Return of the King" for which he won a Peabody Award the first rapper ever to do so. He's a part of the group Unspoken Heard, and has smooth flow and sharp lyrics. Cant say I know much more about him, I just started listening to him a couple months ago. His product is fire, thats for sure and I have a couple of his other albums but havent gotten around to listening to them. Stay up.
